My Story

About a decade ago, my sister and I began racing half marathons together. After crossing the finish line of our second race together, she asked me, "Why don't you stick to half marathons, and I'll take on the full ones?" Throughout our years running, I had always been the sprinter, while she gravitated towards longer distances.  Without hesitation, I proposed a challenge, "How about you run marathons, and I will run a 50K?" It was a goal I had been eyeing for a while, sparked by a client of mine who ran Adventure Races.

Smith Rock 50K seemed like a good way to get a good feel for training and racing with the ultra running community.  A local Oregon race that I met inspiring ultra runners, had some important racing lessons, and finished strong with the support of family and friends cheering me on.

Soon, I became obsessed, and even addicted to Ultra Running. Day after day, race after race, pushing myself further, and going deeper into the world of endurance sports. In a short time,  I became fascinated with adventure running, where my friends and I found ourselves exploring the most beautiful places.

One unforgettable adventure took place in 2022 when we decided to circumnavigate Mt. Saint Helens on a scorching summer day.  I had previously completed this route in an organized race, but this time was different. It was just me and my two closest running partners, three women tackling the challenge self-supported.  We had a long grueling hot day traversing rugged vistas, running by breathtaking waterfalls, through icy rivers, and rope descents on rock faces. We ran from the heat of the day until after the sun went down over the mountains.

Reflecting on my journey from my first 50k to being a seasoned ultra runner, I realized how my approach to nutrition has evolved. Initially, I loaded up on protein bars, gels, and all the sweet stuff during training and racing.

However, after completing my first hundred miler on the Tahoe Rim Trail, I discovered the power of REAL FOOD.  Now, when I hit the trails, my pack is filled with savory real food- fuel to sustain me through the toughest challenges.

This is how my entrepreneurial adventure began; a nostalgic craving for something that I didn’t have for that epic adventure circumnavigating Mt. Saint Helens.
